Ever wonder when everything is going good heck even great we fall back to what we know, what we love but hate all at the same time?
Why is that? Here is the picture I will paint and you can tell me the ending!
Everything is going great you've ate right, you've exercised all wanting to lose those pesky 10 lbs. you put on from the winter slumber. The scale is going down and you have 5 more to go til you get to goal when you feel the need to indulge...So you have a slice of cheesecake for dessert and wash it down with some wine. Not like it is going to do anything to those 5 lbs. you have already lost right? Well, when you wake up the next morning you step on the scale and see that you have packed on 2 lbs.! Now seriously could a piece of cake and a glass of wine really make you gain 2 lbs.? Probably not but all that you see is a gain and think," Wow, I have failed!" "Why do I do this!"
Well, why do you do it? I'm looking for solid answers. I am on the look out to figure out why I do this. Yes, I do this very same thing! It is like my body knows what I'm doing and is working hard but my mind is saying," Ok have we lost a few pounds so I can have that chocolate covered donut?" When you think about it is a true mind game you have with yourself. Almost like a conversation with your healthy eating side and your indulgence side. Guess which ones always wins with me! Which one wins with you?

What works and what doesn't
It seems like there is money to be made when it comes to diet programs. How many people didn't know that, right? What happens when you stop the diet? You gain, but why? Did you fall back into the old habits that led you to having to diet? No, is probably the answer. You just started incorporating things that were restricted. You know what I'm talking about; no carbs, no dairy, more fat, and only 1000 cals. Think it is hype? You're right. It's also not realistic for maintaining. That is why so many people gain it back and sometimes gain even more than before. There isn't any teaching involved, it is, "just follow this and you will lose weight."
For many of us, we aren't thinking about the long road to keep the weight off. We are only interested in the here and now! "Now I have dropped those 20 lbs for summer and I look good!" So, when we start to enjoy ourselves and our 20 lb. lighter body we start to put the weight back on. Nice little cycle we have started. Omit to lose and indulge to gain. So around and around we go trying to figure out the dieting game.
Well, have you maintained your weight loss for an extended amount of time? Has it been 6 mos. since you lost your weight and haven't gained? Well, I want to hear what has worked for you!! There are so many neat little things to be learned when it comes to food and weight management that I would like to hear from anyone on this subject!
